Here’s the spoiler, we are asking two things from you:
1. Tell 3 (or more) friends to connect with Signpost Inn. Encourage them to sign up for our weekly email; play them our podcast, or text them a page from our website! (signpostinn.org) Word-of-mouth is, hands down, the best way we can grow!
2. CRUCIALLY: Help us set up key pitch meetings with new kindred spirits who are looking to invest significantly in our unique ministry on the verge of breakout growth. Contact me personally at 314-973-7294 or brandon@signpostinn.org. I’ll fly out to meet personally with any potential big supporter!
Our recent board and staff planning retreat was truly groundbreaking! God focused us on a singular point. He said, “Stop asking what you can do with your limited resources and start asking what I want you to do with my infinite resources!” Here’s the result of our listening:
We walk alongside people through the chaos and distractions of life, helping them lift their gaze and sustain their attention on Jesus' loving presence. We create kind and welcoming spaces, produce deep and thoughtful resources, and offer wise and compassionate personal guidance that help people reimagine God’s relationship to them and navigate complex issues of life with kindness and wisdom.
Here’s the problem: Distraction and anxiety, sin and fear, spiritual wounds and distrust, are all wrecking people’s relationship with God. The world is in chaos! And so are our souls! People struggle to trust God, to find peace, to connect with others. They need help to feel God’s delight in them and reimagine the way he relates to them!
Signpost Inn is uniquely poised to dramatically change people’s relationship with God. No one else in the field offers a transformative blend of historical Christian wisdom and heartfelt compassion the way we do.
One-on-one spiritual direction, The Signpost Inn Podcast, our weekly emails, our books, our retreats, workshops, and our hospitable gatherings all facilitate transformative experiences with God! And for the last four years, we’ve seen how unique and powerful our way of doing things has been.
We’ve seen God make deep and abiding changes in people’s lives! They are praying more, reaching out for help more, experiencing more peace, creating more community, reading Scripture from a more Christ centered perspective… and much more!

I’m 51 years old and until about a year ago, I had never even heard of “spiritual direction.” I was skeptical, but a friend offered to make meeting with a spiritual director a reality—I thought “what can I lose?” I’m not sure I can ever thank Brandon enough for being my hiking guide, my sherpa for the last several months. My eyes are being opened to the importance of being quiet with God, of listening, of resting, and of believing what is true about Jesus and about myself. Every time we meet, I’m left feeling a little more at peace and believing the truth a little more!

In a world that feels fragmented and discordant, even for people with a long history of walking with Jesus, the practice of hospitality shines like an oasis in a desert. I benefit from the regular email communication and winsome reminders that the Lord is present when we practice and participate in godly hospitality! We took Liv’s advice about creating a defined space for fellowship before our recent neighborhood picnic. One of our friends brought a pop up awning, and the little tent and a few oil lamps drew ALL the evening guests. Liv, you are on to something!

On Wednesday nights at Signpost Inn, God is present. The atmosphere and setting envelop me in God's love and mercy, and the conversation and understanding leave me feeling filled and recharged! These evenings remind me that, even though I struggle, God is for me and God is with me on my journey, as are my friends. I feel the freedom to rest from striving with good food and good people. Through the conversations the Holy Spirit speaks, breathing life in me, giving me the strength and endurance to carry on!

God has been using spiritual direction in my life to start a very needed journey of finding safety and rest in Him. I am naturally skittish and anxious before God to the extent that praying is extremely difficult for me, and I have been consistently reminded in my sessions that Jesus is with us there and that he is not angry with me, that I am beloved by him. It has been very healing to pray in that safe place, and I know that God is using this practice to fight lies in my soul! I am so very grateful that spiritual direction was recommended to me!
What does God want us to do with his resources? He wants us to think BIG! We have identified three key initiatives we believe are necessary to follow Jesus into Signpost Inn’s future:
• Massively improve and grow our content in order to become trusted leaders in our space.
• Reach a significantly larger number of people with our ministries by finding the people who already need us where they are, not by convincing them they need us!
• Faithfully expand our staff so we can focus our efforts on:
• donor and client development,
• content and content distribution,
• financial stability and stewardship.
Doing this will require significant investments of time and money. We are excited, but also humbled (and a little scared), by the vision God has given us. Thankfully we are not alone! We have hundreds of faithful friends—like YOU—who have joined us on this mission! Very practically speaking, here’s an ambitious list of projects we would love to do in 2025 and beyond on the table below.
That's right, YOU are the key player in our next big move! You will change how people feel about God!
First, TALK about Signpost Inn and all our resources to your friends! We need you to talk, face-to-face, to everyone you know! You don’t need to know our story, your friends need to know your story! Tell them, in your own words, how Signpost Inn has helped, encouraged, or supported YOU! (Remember, your own words are best because they are your words!)
Tell your friends who:
• are looking for a kind, welcoming place that helps them lift their gaze from the chaos and sustain their attention on Jesus to try spiritual direction or come to a retreat.
• have a healthy dislike for social media, advertisements, and self-help mumbo-jumbo to subscribe to our weekly email. It’s completely different!
• don’t want to be treated like a project or start another “spiritual work-out plan” to listen to our podcast.
• are lonely or suffering or who feel like God must not like them very much to connect with us however they can. We are here for them!
Everything’s available at www.signpostinn.org!
Second, and this one is crucial, CONNECT us to people with significant resources who are looking to invest in uniquely powerful change! Do you know someone who resonates with what we are doing, and who has the capacity to give $50,000, $100,000, or more? Call me right now (314-973-7294), and help introduce them to Signpost Inn. I’ll fly out and meet with them, and you, personally! You can also email me!
Did you know that currently we offer all this!?
Spiritual direction: Like counseling, only not counseling. Spiritual direction is confidential, one-on-one, and online or in person. A spiritual director helps you navigate life’s chaos and stay behind Jesus.
Soul-nourishing retreats: Beautiful locations and welcoming friends encourage you to talk to God honestly and openly. We don’t shove you through a program, rather we offer education, support, and encouragement to pray like you’ve never prayed before. Our Spring retreat is for those who are just getting started, our Fall retreat is for those more experienced with the practices of silence and solitude.
A unique weekly email: What if you weren't alone in your questions and struggles? Our weekly communiqués are compassionate letters from friends that encourage you to keep your attention on Jesus. They are theologically faithful, always practical, and exceedingly timely.
The Signpost Inn Podcast: Dive deep into Jesus-centered spirituality, theology, prayer, and much more. Our back-porch style conversations with guests like Fr. Ronald Rolheiser, J.P. Moreland, Julianne Cusick, Emily P. Freeman, and more. We make even the most difficult topics accessible and enjoyable.
Books & resources: Our newly published book, Not Home Yet, and more, are available on our growing web store. There are even several free ebooks like 5 Prayers that Can Obliterate Anxiety and A Contemplative Encounter With the Psalms.
Wednesday evenings: Nearly every Wednesday night we invite the community to the Booth’s house for delicious bread, friendship, and conversation. There’s no agenda, just hospitality. This Fall, for the first time, we started reading C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters out loud around the fire. We start and stop whenever we want to, weaving it into a conversation. It’s been a delightful!
Workshops and presentations: Join an online workshop or request a speaker at your next event and we’ll go deep with topics like contemplative prayer, listening, or Christ-centered spirituality and more. Again, always with our signature mix of historic Christian wisdom, heart-felt compassion, and intense practicality.
Resources for spiritual directors: We manage and host the Liturgical & Sacramental Spiritual Directors Group, an informal group of spiritual directors interested in exploring the intersection between liturgical and sacramental theologies and the practice of spiritual direction. We publish a monthly e-magazine, host quarterly Zoom meetups, and offer a really useful free ebook for spiritual directors to use called, Navigating Emotions: An Interactive Toolbox.
Support for your daily prayer: Pick up the Prayer Retreat in Your Pocket interactive ebook, jammed with over 50 pages of prayers and support or just hit our daily prayer webpage for easy-to-use, encouraging support in your daily conversations with Jesus.
We know the Lord will provide and lead the way. Thank you for walking this path with us! May the grace of Jesus Christ go with you, wherever the road takes you!
